SPOT program

The Ketchikan Volunteer Rescue Squad (KVRS) offers free SPOT satellite messengers for loan. SPOT is a worldwide personal emergency beacon program that can be used to summon rescue personnel in an emergency situation.

Stop by and fill out a trip plan to receive a SPOT beacon, FREE of charge. When you travel the back country go with the peace of mind that if you get in trouble KVRS will, within minutes be notified of your GPS coordinates and immediately send help.

SPOT beacons can be checked out at one of these locations in Ketchikan:

-Ketchikan Visitors Bureau (131 Front St)

-Alaska State Troopers Ketchikan Post (7366 N Tongass Hwy)
